When asked about what could be done about the economic inequalities between men and women my respondent said that first and foremost the government needs to be more involved in wages. She talked about how we have the Civil Rights Act and Equal Pay Act, but they aren't enforced and they should be. Since there is an audit on companies for their taxes there should also be an audit on their wages. Also she said that there needs to be more transparency with wages since you can't know there's a wage gap when companies don't allow wages to be talked about. Furthermore, she said that we need to get rid of the idea that men and women are unequal which will be hard since it's ingrained in our society. She points out that when women take over a man's position they are paid less and doesn't understand why this is acceptable. She also stated that heavy fines should be implemented to companies who don't give equal pay to their workers similar to what happens when they aren't being environmentally friendly. Also she believes that men should take more responsibility with the second shift since it's unfair to expect women to do all the work. She said that in a perfect world we would all be equal, but we aren't. However, the one thing that should be equal is the job we do and the amount we are paid to do it.
