Weekly Participation 11-5-14

Stephanie Grieb

This week we had a choice of discussion three different topics for our interviews.  The interviewee chose to talk about the first question, which was about whether the interviewee has experienced gender differences or not.  The interviewee (female) stated that in one of the two jobs she works in, whenever there is a male worker working  the same shift as her, he would often volunteer to do most of the lifting  which the interviewee stated that it felt as if it makes her look bad in front of the manager.  As she spoke of this scenario, it made me think of what was in the chapter for this week; that men are often looked at in society as people who are more "capable" of doing heavier work which is part of what causes gender segregation in the work place.  From this, men are often given more opportunities for promotions than women and better job positions than women.
