In class we asked our interviewee about gender in the work place and gender roles in the work place. She said she works at Mcdonalds and there only females workers work in the front taking orders or in drive through taking orders. Male employees are usually working the grills in the back or get sent outside to clean the parking lot or was the outside of building with a pressure washer. She stated that she is the only female that knows how to work the grills. One time she asked her supervisor why couldnt she work outside using the pressure washer he told no because he said thats a male job and she would get dirty doing so. she informed him that she could handle the job and she would be willing to do it, but she was still denied from doing so. That i found interesting because it seems like there is gender discrimination in every workplace.
