In my interview I asked my interviewee if women and men differed in their work place, how does gender matter, if their salaries were different, and how did their parents divide the work load in their home? The interviewee mentioned that they worked at a firm where women were receptionists along with holding higher positions as well. The salary seemed to be different for the receptionists since they didn't have college degrees. The women that held a higher position seemed to be quite and kept to themselves. They weren't harassed but when I asked if they might have been from previous jobs the interviewee then went on to say that one of the women gave up their higher paying job to move for her husband's job. Which was something we had been talking about in class. She accepted less money so that her husband could have a better job. When I asked about his parents he said before his parents were divorced they both worked but his dad made more money. His mother actually didn't want to get married right away but was forced to do so, which is why she didn't finish school. Overall, I took from this interview that women tend to be forced by men to follow them in their pursuits in our male dominated society.
