Sociology: Sex and Gender
Sorry, I forgot to include a few things in my first post..
Based off of the article I presented to my interviewee, they seemed to approve with what the young group of women hackers were doing and disagreed with the comments that were left by the CEO of Microsoft. the article discussed the issue of a tech industry in San Marcos that has come under scrutiny for its lack of gender and racial diversity. My interviewee said that the Microsoft CEO's idea of relying on karma so that the system would eventually reward the workers would not work, because the system itself is broken. The interviewee was tired of women "getting the short end of the stick" in the tech industries and other industries like this that have proven to be dominated by males. My interviewee's response to this issue was that if large, well-known, powerful companies like Microsoft actually listened to women like this and closed the gap on gender and racial inequality, then the rest of the large companies throughout the world would follow in their footsteps, therefore reducing and hopefully ending the issue of gender inequality.http://icati.catishack.com/uploads/BrandonGuthier/BrandonGuthier-18183374605-20141013-1413171702.1185.mp3
