The way I see gender "done" in my daily life is the actions and the way we go about living our lives. There is said to be gender roles that vary across cultures. These gender roles are learned through socialization and form us into the people we are today. The typical stereotypes here in the United States is that the men are supposed to be these big strong guys that are going to provide for the family. "Men don't cry" is another way we see men being scrutinized for having emotion. As for the females, we are not supposed to be in jobs of heavy labor, rather they would like us to be home taking care of our children and cleaning the house. For myself, I consider myself to be a pretty dynamic female in the sense that I have all the "roles" a typical female should have but I also express some of the traits you would see more in a male role. These gender roles have too much impact on the ways that they affect each and every one of us and it is sad to see people try to be something they are not. I would hope that as we grow and develop that we can be more open and understanding to the possibilities that not all people are born to be male or female, they are just people and how they live and how they view the world is completely dependent on them, not these "roles" that we have grown to know.
