Nick Nakashian Weekly Interview

Nick Nakashian

In my interviewee, my interviewee and I spoke about an article written about the comments of the Microsoft CEO, in which he said if you wait for it you will receive a raise, and this brought about questioning in regards to the pay gap between men and women. When asked if the pay gap was a serious issue in the workforce today, my interviewee felt it was. He believed that it was because of old stereotypes and traditions, and felt that if you do a job you get paid for it, the exact amount you are supposed to be paid. The article also brought up a term called the "ask gap" referring to the large amount of women that simple do not ask for a raise for whatever reason. When asked if this was a major cause in the gender pay gap my interviewee believed that it could have some effect, but the solution to the problem could not be as simple as just getting women to ask for a raise.
