Weekly Parcipation- Jessica Creager
For this weeks weekly participation, I showed the video, and I interviewed a friend on the story done by Fox News. The story was about gender inclusive moves in schools. They discussed the recent topic of a law aimed at eliminating gender inclusive names or terms in schools. This would include "boys and girls", "lady's and gentlemen", etc. The news reporter seemed to try to illegitimatize the potential law, and try to convince their viewers that it was ridiculous. The news reporter suggested that this was an issue that was only for politics and to get attention. Also, she mentioned that we should not change children's lives and confuse them even more. Thus, in her opinion, we should focus on what is best for the masses(straight individuals), and not to put to much emphasis on an issue that effects almost no one in the school population. Overall, I believe this news story has some decent points, but it is so bias which makes it difficult to talk seriously.
