Eduardo Gutierrez
This week we were asked to give our interviewee a list of characteristics and to label them either masculine, feminine, or both. My interviewee was a female and when she rated them she seemed to connect more aggressive words to masculinity and more compassionate words to femininity. However, there were some words that she labeled feminine that I would have guessed she would have labeled masculine. Its possible that we view these characteristics differently for many different reasons. I feel our upbringings shape us. I was brought up with one older brother and my dad taught us the way "men" do things. However she was brought up with an older sister, and older brother, and a younger brother. She may have taken on roles and responsibilities as a middle child that would cause her to identify words of responsibility with feminism.
