- The way that I see gender "done" in my daily life is by seeing different types of people with their own style that relates to their personality. Some people, like girls, certain girls wear make up to show their identity and wear clothing that would reflect "feminine" features and for men they wear certain outfits to go with their personality as well, from sporty to a tucked t-shirt and slacks. People having their own style that reflects their identity is somewhat socially accepted and somewhat socially ostracized, by this I mean that certain styles are accepted because fashion is very important to certain groups in this society and it is somewhat socially ostracized because some people do not accept people by the way they dress and sometimes they do not fit the norm. Other ways that I see gender being "done" is by the way people react to certain things and how they accomplish things. What I mean with this statement is that some people would react with different emotions with certain situation, for an example, women typically will have more of an emotion when dealing with hardships, excitement, etc. and on the other hand, men typically hold on to those emotions so that they won't be seen being vulnerable or too "out there". I believe that people have different responses when it comes to "doing" gender because of different institutions in their lives that helped them shape the way they see, feel, think, etc. about gender. They also tend to make personal decisions based on their experiences when they make friends, meet new people etc. they tend to take that into consideration and based on their point of view, they decide whether to accept the gender structure of those people.
Things such as how you dress can easily depend on the specific situation you are in and people's own unique personalities.
